My Story

My name is Paul Green. I grew up in North Carolina and have lived in Guanajuato, Mexico for nearly half of my adult life. My work here, and my years moving between both countries, have shown me the beauty and the challenges that come with starting over in a new place.

During my time in Mexico, I have met many deportees and returning migrants who arrived with no support system at all. Their stories, their courage, and their struggles touched my heart and opened my eyes to how much help is needed. This project began because their journeys deserve dignity and community.

My Philosophy

I am a conservative person in many ways, yet also someone who feels deeply connected to both Mexican and American culture. I am a Christian who believes that faith calls us to help others, to lift people up when life has knocked them down, and to stand with those who feel forgotten.

I believe that compassion does not require a political label. It simply requires a willingness to care. People returning to Mexico after many years in the United States deserve clarity, respect, and a sense of belonging, no matter their background or situation.

Most of all they deserve hope.

My Mission

My mission is to use my unique position and lived experience to bring people together. I understand both cultures, I speak both languages, and I have spent years working with travelers, expats, and local communities on both sides of the border.

I want to unite shelters, churches, legal teams, community groups, volunteers, and everyday people on both sides of the border into a single shared effort. I am building this coalition so deportees and returning migrants have the support they deserve and a real path forward.

Every day, people are sent back to Mexico after years or even decades of living in the United States. Many arrive with no ID, no Spanish, no contacts, and no clear path forward. Support exists in shelters, legal clinics, churches, nonprofits, community groups, and compassionate volunteers, but the resources are spread across two countries and rarely connected.

The people who need help the most often cannot find it.

The Mexico Deportee Coalition exists to bring all of this together.

A multinational network of organizations, advocates, volunteers, and community partners working as one.

This is the beginning. It is the foundation of something that will grow across borders, cities, and communities.
